The death toll of the deadly fire that claimed residents of Grenfell Tower in London, England is rising.

Metropolitan Police commander Stuart Cundy said on Monday that another 79 people are missing or presumed dead. Fifty-eight people were already confirmed dead after Wednesday’s catastrophic fire that tore through the 24-storey residential complex in west London.

Identifying the bodies will be a long and difficult process because of the “indescribable” conditions inside Grenfell Tower, Cundy explained.

The Metropolitan Police department released images of the conditions inside the building, showing the true devastation of the fire. A police recovery team took the photos and videos that show the apartments where residents have been accounted for.

“It is really important that we are clear about the scale of the challenge facing us as our teams search Grenfell Tower to recover those people still inside and return them to their loved ones,” Cundy said in a statement.

He also warned that some fire victims may never be identified “due to the intensity of the fire.”

Prime Minister Theresa May previously announced that residents of the tower would receive at least £5,500 in emergency funds from the government.
