Mother mourns her two children found dead inside a hot vehicle

We hear the warnings every year: do not leave children or pets unattended in a hot vehicle.

Most parents take heed of the warning, making sure to not leave their children inside a hot vehicle. One mother in is living with the nightmare of a different situation, with the same deadly results.

Two kids, aged two and 16-months, allegedly wandered out of the family home in Parker County, TX, and accidentally locked themselves inside the hot vehicle. The mother told Parker County police that her kids “took off” without saying a word.

The frantic mother searched her home on Friday before checking outside. She discovered her children dead inside the overheated car. ABC News reported that temperatures outside the vehicle reached 96 degrees.

Police were told the mother broke one of the windows only to find her children unresponsive. Parker Counter Sheriff’s department released a statement on the “especially heartbreaking” incident, and said the case is “still in the early stages” of investigation.

Parents, please remember to keep your doors locked and keys out of the reach of children. As always, do not leave kids, pets or elderly people inside a hot car, even for a few minutes.
