9-year-old boy rescues a drowning toddler when no adult noticed

A nine-year old boy is being hailed a hero after saving the life of a toddler who was drowning in a public pool.

Colbi Heard was swimming in an apartment complex pool when he noticed another swimmer, a three-year-old boy, had gone under the water and didn’t come back up.

Nearly three minutes passed for the toddler, struggling to stay above water, and not a single adult at the pool noticed. When Colbi realized the boy wasn’t coming back up, he sprang into action.

The incredible surveillance video captures the there-year-old boy and Colbi’s heroic actions. After swimming to get the toddler, Colbi brought him to an adult who immediately rushed him from the pool.

Unaware that her son had just rescued the boy, Colbi’s mother, who is a registered nurse, rushed to his aid.

“I knew I had to start CPR. All my focus was ‘come on baby, come on baby, come on baby,’” said Severia Heard.

After several minutes of CPR, Severia managed to revive the little boy. And now both are being hailed as heroes by the little boy’s mother, Keyonna Shaw.

“Him and his mom saved my baby’s life, and I thank them so much,” she said.

With summer in full swing, it’s important to remember water safety and to always watch your children when they are in or around water.

If not for Colbi’s quick thinking and his mother’s CPR, this story could have a very different ending. Please share this incredible story!
